Ok so I have not been active in the slightest in my blog and while I enjoy recruitment and enjoy my job, I do however enjoy bike riding more and thought it would be better to concentrate my blog around my training and what I am up to riding wise etc.
So my fitness levels have been pretty good and have been training fairly regularly. Recently U ran the City2Surf which is a 14km run through Sydney in a time of 72mins and 9 seconds which I was pretty pleased with, especially as running is not my focus and because I started in the Yellow group, a good 30 mins or so after the first runners had gone off. A time of 72mins and 9 secs means I will start in the red group next year which I will put some serious effort towards training for the run.
So with the C2S over with I am concentrating on my next event, which is the Highland Fling in November. I am doing the Full fling and the Bundanoon Dash and this will be my first 110k MTB enduro. I have raced a few 12 hours before in teams, however this is going to be the first solo attempt.
I am already feeling pretty good about the 110k at this stage as I have been riding and training pretty well over the last 3 months, with a good mix of spin classes and long rides on the road bike, however I have not been riding the mountain bike that much recently.
This weekend changed that, I got out twice on the weekend, once on the road on saturday with some of the guys from NobMob for a 85km smashest fest which included Galston Gorge, Berowra Waters, down to Brooklyn Bridge, PITS and then Bobbin Head. Ride profile is here: Garmin Profile
The ride on Saturday was pretty hard going with a lot of attacks going on and I cramped towards the end, however great weather, banter and riding was enjoyed by all and it was a brilliant day.
Sunday I was out in Terry Hills on the MTB, that ride totalled about 35kms, however it ended early due to two of my riding buddies having a bad stack and one of them being knocked out for about 2 mins so had to call the ambo’s.
Training so far this week, has included a 45 min spin session on Monday morning, a long ride to work this morning and the ride home, profiles here and here and with a further spin session on Wed AM and then a ride to work on Thursday with friday being my rest day.
The weekend is going to split with another road and MTB session again, however exact days have not been decided as of yet. I have just ordered my new MTB bike, a New Yeti ASR5-C Carbon that I am waiting for and unfortunatly have a situation in work where I am not able to keep my bike in the office for when I ride into work, which in frustrating and short sighted I feel by the directors.
Any input into the training schedule would be welcomed, I intend to get some long MTB rides in under my belt as well and I figure with all the spin sessions, long road rides and long MTB rides I should be in pretty decent shape for the Fling and maybe even be in with a chance of a decent finish.
